1. Walking tours: Explore the Lesse Valley

Hiking enthusiasts will be delighted by the many marked trails around La Source de Manon. The Houyet tourist office offers a walking map with 22 routes ranging from 4 to 13 kilometers. These walks will allow you to discover the natural wealth of the Lesse valley, between forests, meadows and panoramic viewpoints.

2. Rock climbing in Freyr: For thrill seekers

Just 12 km from La Source de Manon, the Freyr climbing site is a destination of choice for climbing enthusiasts. Internationally renowned, this cliff is the largest rock massif in Belgium, offering more than 600 routes suitable for all levels, from beginners to experienced climbers.

3. Descent of the Lesse by kayak: An unforgettable adventure

One of the top activities near La Source de Manon is undoubtedly the descent of the Lesse by kayak or canoe. Suitable for all ages and all levels, this adventure allows you to immerse yourself in an exceptional natural setting. Between calm and adrenaline, the courses of the Lesse are punctuated by small waterfalls that add a touch of emotion to the experience.

For those who wish to combine nature and culture, the city of Namur, capital of Wallonia, is only 45 km from La Source de Manon. Located at the confluence of the Meuse and the Sambre, Namur is a historic city rich in heritage, with its charming pedestrian streets, its museums and its famous citadel.

5. Immersion in nature: Communicating with trees

Ferage, the village where La Source de Manon is located, is an ideal place to reconnect with nature. Botany enthusiasts will enjoy visiting the park of the Château de Ferage, where there is an eight-hundred-year-old oak tree. A few steps from the cottage, on the village square, stands a century-old lime tree. These majestic trees invite contemplation and reflection, a moment of pause to reconnect with nature.

6. The deer's bellow: A unique natural spectacle

Every year, between early and late September, the deer in the surrounding forests begin their rutting season. The deer bellow is an impressive and moving event, where the powerful cry of the males resonates in the forest to attract the females. It is an experience that you absolutely must have if you are staying at La Source de Manon during this period.

7. Cycling and mountain biking: Explore the marked trails

For cycling enthusiasts, there are several options available to you around La Source de Manon. Marked routes ranging from 15 to 30 km leave directly from the gîte. You can rent mountain bikes or Ravel bikes from Mr. Vanacker in Houyet.

These bike rides will allow you to discover the region from another angle, through its wooded paths and picturesque little villages.

8. Horseback riding: For horse lovers

The area around La Source de Manon is also ideal for horse riding. With several riding stables located nearby, visitors can immerse themselves in the Ardennes landscapes, combining forest walks, galloping on trails and fording.
